The Ministry of Social Development has confirmed that foreigners residing in Paraguay are also entitled to the universal pension for senior citizens. The benefit, regulated by Law 7.322, requires applicants to prove at least 30 years of permanent residence in the country with the National Directorate of Migrations.

In addition to the minimum age of 65, applicants must not be receiving a public or private salary, nor contributing to the Social Security Institute (IPS). It is also necessary not to be registered as active taxpayers with the DNIT without the corresponding certificate and not to own more than 30 head of cattle. The pension amount is equivalent to 25% of the current minimum wage, which was approximately G. 724,762 until June, and will be updated with the new wage floor.

The program has different rules for indigenous communities, who can access the benefit from the age of 55, and for people with severe disabilities, with a minimum age of 60, without the gradual incorporation applied to other beneficiaries.
