Banks operating in Paraguay racked up more than US$ 302 million in profits in the first four months of 2026, according to the latest report from the Banco Central del Paraguay (BCP). The figure exceeds G. 1.8 trillion at the current dollar exchange rate.
The result represents 5.8% growth compared to the same period in 2025, when financial institutions posted earnings of roughly US$ 286 million, equivalent to more than G. 1.7 trillion. Compared just with last March, the increase is even steeper: 34%, given that the sector’s profitability in the third month of the year had stood at G. 1.3 trillion.
The performance extends the upward trajectory of Paraguay’s banking industry, which closed the 2025 fiscal year with profits exceeding US$ 860 million. The first-quarter figures suggest the sector could surpass that level in 2026.
Among the most profitable institutions, Banco Continental leads with more than G. 450 billion, closely followed by Itaú, which reached over G. 441 billion. GNB ranks third, with more than G. 182 billion, while Banco Nacional de Fomento (BNF) appears in fourth place, with G. 172 billion. Ueno rounds out the top five, with over G. 151 billion in profits for the period.
