In May 2026, unrecoverable loans represented 3.16% of Banco Nacional de Fomento’s (BNF) portfolio, the highest proportion among the institutions considered, according to Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) data. Ueno Bank had 2.74% of its portfolio in Category 6, which groups loans considered unrecoverable.

Six institutions exceed 90% in Category 1, which includes debtors with adequate solvency, the capacity to generate surpluses, regular fulfillment of obligations, and updated financial information: Atlas (93.36%), Continental (92.51%), Itaú (92.24%), BNF (91.47%), Bancop (91.02%), and GNB (90.65%).

Beyond BNF and Ueno Bank, the Category 6 share is 1.84% at Basa, 1.29% at GNB, 1.26% at Interfisa, 1.03% at Atlas, 0.94% at Bancop and Sudameris, 0.79% at Itaú, 0.59% at Continental, 0.40% at Zeta, 0.20% at Familiar, and 0.08% at Solar.

The data report high Category 1 shares at six banks alongside varying Category 6 shares among the institutions considered. The analysis uses each bank’s total portfolio, excluding sold portfolios, and excludes Banco de la Nación Argentina and Banco do Brasil.
