Paraguay River Shows Mixed Behavior: Rising in the North, Falling in the Center and South

The Paraguay River level shows opposite variations this Saturday: while the north of the country observes a slight recovery, with rises of up to 2 cm, the central and southern regions record drops of up to 4 cm. The Paraná River, in turn, shows a strong rise in Ciudad del Este, with a jump of 101 cm.

The Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) released the hydrological bulletin this Saturday, indicating mixed behavior along the Paraguay River basin. In the northern region, locations such as Puerto Ladario, Puerto Murtinho, Isla Margarita, Fuerte Olimpo, and Vallemí recorded the largest increase of the day, with a rise of 2 cm at their respective hydrometers.

The points where the level dropped the most were Puerto Cáceres, Rosario, and Antequera, with a decrease of up to 4 cm in the last 24 hours. At the Port of Asunción, the river fell 2 cm, standing at 3.29 m. Villeta and Ita Enramada showed no variations, remaining stable.

In the southern zone, Pilar also fell 2 cm, to 4.75 m, while Alberdi recorded a slight rise of 1 cm.

The Paraná River shows a growth scenario at almost all measurement points. Notably, Ciudad del Este jumped 101 cm, reaching 7.95 m. Cerrito rose 30 cm and Ita Pirú increased 16 cm. In contrast, Ayolas and Corateí recorded drops of 10 cm.

Other watercourses: the Pilcomayo River, at Pozo Hondo, marks 2.95 m with a positive variation of 2 cm. The Tebicuary River, at Villa Florida, is at 0.32 m, and the Negro River, at the Arirai station, had a minimal growth of 1 cm, reaching 4.67 m.
