The National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD), Paraguay’s anti-narcotics agency, destroyed five cannabis-growing areas covering 16 hectares and 940 kilograms of processed marijuana at a rural property in Bella Vista Norte, in Amambay Department. The crops had an estimated yield of 48 tonnes; including the processed material, the total volume comes to nearly 49 tonnes.
The operation also dismantled a camp used in the activity. The 940 kilograms of chopped marijuana were stored in 47 sacks. The crops were at the harvesting stage.
The property is identified as La Niña and, in another reference to the site, as Las Niñas. Anti-drug prosecutor Sarita Bonzi García led the operation, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered the crops and processed drugs destroyed on site.
The official estimate of losses to structures linked to production and illegal trade is US$7.3 million, calculated using the drug’s value on the Brazilian market. This figure is an economic valuation of the destroyed material, not cash seized.
