The National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD) dismantled two drug sales points in separate operations carried out this week in Paraguay. In Asunción, a supposed therapeutic spa in the Teniente Silvio Pettirossi neighborhood, near Mercado 4, was the target of an intervention that revealed it was being used to sell narcotics disguised as massage services and spiritual practices.
During the operation, agents from SENAD's Urban Operations Directorate, accompanied by prosecutor Andrés Arriola, seized 52 grams of cocaine, equivalent to approximately 104 doses, more than one kilogram of marijuana divided into about 100 "tocos" (small packages), and 11 blister packs of tranquilizer pills. The detainee was Gladis Francisca Saucedo Serna, 40, known as "Tía Morena," who has a prior record for drug trafficking. She claimed the drugs were not her property and that she was operating on consignment.
In Hernandarias, Alto Paraná department, SENAD dismantled a 24-hour distribution center operating in the Aurora neighborhood. At the location, a precarious house, authorities seized 159 grams of cocaine paste and 651 grams of marijuana, already packaged for sale. The total seizure represents more than a thousand doses taken out of circulation.
The detained suspect was identified as Aldo Adorno Sotelo, 37. In addition to the drugs, agents found a precision scale, cash, a cell phone, and a .38 caliber revolver. The procedure was carried out by SENAD's Regional Department No. 2, based in Ciudad del Este, with the accompaniment of the Public Ministry, under the direction of prosecutor Manuel Rojas of the Specialized Unit for Combating Drug Trafficking.
