The National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD) and the General Directorate of War Materiel (DIGEMABEL) signed a Framework Agreement for Interinstitutional Cooperation on Wednesday, aiming to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking, arms trafficking, and other related crimes. The agreement was signed by SENAD Minister Jalil Rachid and DIGEMABEL Director General General Melanio Servín Aquino in a ceremony at the military institution's headquarters in Asunción, which was attended by Paraguayan Army Commander General Manuel Rodríguez Sosa.
The agreement establishes mechanisms for coordination and reciprocal technical assistance, including the exchange of intelligence information, specialized training of agents, and technical support for ongoing investigations. The two entities will also coordinate operations focused on strict control of weapons, explosives, and other regulated materials often used by criminal organizations.
One of the central points of the cooperation is joint work on technical analysis, safe handling, and final disposal of chemical substances and precursors seized in operations across the national territory. The partnership seeks to optimize operational capabilities and consolidate integrated actions in combating organized crime.
