Special agents of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD), assigned to the Regional Department of Ciudad del Este, dismantled a drug trafficking point during an operation on a public street. The action took place in the San Juan neighborhood, at km 8 of the Acaray area, and resulted in the seizure of marijuana packages and the arrest of the alleged person responsible for transport.
The detainee was identified as Roberto López Correa, a 20-year-old Paraguayan. According to the official report, the young man was approached while walking through the area carrying a suspicious load divided into several packages. Upon noticing the presence of security forces, the agents carried out the inspection.
Weighing and analysis confirmed that the seized substances totaled 6 kilograms and 550 grams of pressed marijuana, which, according to the investigation, was to be divided and distributed at local consumption points in the department of Alto Paraná.
The procedure was conducted under the direction of prosecutor Manuel Rojas, of the Specialized Unit for Combating Drug Trafficking, who ordered the transfer of the detainee and evidence to the SENAD regional base to continue procedural steps and custody of the seized materials.
