An Itaú Bank customer reports a fraud exceeding 85 million guaraníes

A client of Banco Itaú, Delmis Martínez, reported being the victim of a financial fraud exceeding 85 million guaraníes, which included the draining of her accounts, unauthorized use of her credit card, and the approval of a loan she claims she never requested.

An Itaú bank customer reported being the victim of a financial fraud scheme that resulted in the draining of her accounts, unauthorized use of her credit card, and the granting of a loan she claims she never requested, totaling more than 85 million guaraníes.

Delmis Martínez says the case came to light on May 30, when she accessed the institution's app and found that her funds had been moved through transactions she insists she neither made nor authorized. Among the irregular transactions, she points to payments for services at unknown businesses, credit card charges amounting to 35 million guaraníes, and the disbursement of an unsolicited loan of approximately 50 million guaraníes.

Martínez states that at no point did she share her login credentials, passwords, or security codes with third parties. After detecting the issue, she filed a report with the bank, where the existence of the fraud was confirmed. However, the customer questions the fact that, to date, the institution has not provided a technical explanation for how her account was compromised without the security alerts being triggered.

The victim expressed outrage at the bank's stance, which, according to her statements, is attempting to shirk institutional responsibility based on assumptions and insinuating alleged negligence on the customer's part in safeguarding her credentials, without presenting evidence to support this position. For Martínez, the institution is concealing flaws in its internal security controls.

She is demanding the immediate restitution of her funds and the definitive cancellation of the credit obtained illegitimately. The report was not independently corroborated by other sources.
