Brazilian companies have shown growing interest in building solar plants and small hydroelectric facilities in Paraguay, taking advantage of the new legal framework that allows the sale of electricity in the country, both to ANDE and through private agreements.

Fabio Fustagno, president of the Paraguay-Brazil Chamber of Commerce, said the organization has been receiving inquiries from companies in the neighboring country interested in the sector. "An energy niche is also opening up, such as solar power. We are starting to see this kind of inquiry, with this new law. This niche is now drawing attention," he said.

According to Fustagno, Brazilian interest is focused mainly on solar projects, but also includes small hydroelectric plants that harness smaller waterways. "In Brazil, this type of infrastructure is very common. There are many regional and small-scale local hydroelectric plants that could work well here too," he explained.

The approach of Brazilian companies to the Paraguayan market has taken place both through the bilateral chamber of commerce and via Brazilian banks with a presence in the country. Fustagno also highlighted a growing movement of companies from the neighboring country interested in acquiring local businesses in Paraguay, which led the organization to host events on mergers and acquisitions and business valuation.
