Measles vaccination campaign reaches 89% coverage in Paraguay

The National Vaccination Campaign against Measles and Rubella, promoted by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare of Paraguay, has achieved 89% coverage, with 422,427 children vaccinated. The goal is to immunize 475,353 children aged 1 to 5 years by May 29.

The National Vaccination Campaign against Measles and Rubella, coordinated by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare through the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI), reports 89% coverage nationwide, with 422,427 children vaccinated to date.

The campaign, which concludes on May 29, is carried out by local health teams, including vaccinators, supervisors, and brigades, with the aim of reaching the target population of children aged 1 to 5 years who have not received the measles vaccine or have only received one dose.

In several regions of Paraguay, coverage has already reached 100%, demonstrating high family adherence and the coordinated work of health professionals. These results help keep the country protected against the regional risk of measles outbreaks.

The total target population is 475,353 children. So far, 422,427 have been immunized, representing almost 90% of the goal. Authorities remind that there are still children pending vaccination and urge parents or guardians to take advantage of the last days of the campaign and take their little ones to the nearest vaccination post.

The vaccine is free, safe, and considered the main tool to prevent diseases that can cause serious complications and even death.
