A court order forced the parents of three children in Presidente Franco, in the Alto Paraná department, to vaccinate them after months of refusal. The minors, aged 4 months, 7 and 8 years, received doses from the national immunization schedule at a local health post, complying with a court resolution.
The case came to light during a door-to-door health operation, when professionals from the San Miguel neighborhood Family Health Unit identified that the children were not up to date with their vaccination schedule. The director of the Presidente Franco Hospital, Dr. Andrea Giménez, reported the fact to the city's Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (Codeni).
Faced with the parents' persistent refusal, who declined to authorize immunization even after several attempts at dialogue by the health team, the head of Codeni, Balbina Almada, filed a formal complaint with the Children and Adolescents Court. The children's father had posted messages on social media questioning vaccine safety.
Magistrate Milda Bobadilla, analyzing the case, requested reports from the Regional Hospital and the Tenth Health Region, which confirmed the vaccination deficiency. Also considering a recent chickenpox outbreak in the municipality, the judge issued a precautionary measure ordering the compulsory fulfillment of the vaccination schedule, under penalty of intervention by the Public Ministry in case of non-compliance.
With the court order, the family ultimately complied with the decision and took the three children to be vaccinated. Health authorities set a 30-day deadline for the family to return to the health post to complete the next scheduled doses, continuing the regularization of the minors' immunization records.
