The Municipality of Asunción intervened after a large iron structure from a construction site fell onto a dance studio in the Madame Lynch neighborhood. The incident occurred on Molas López Avenue, between Hérib Campos Cervera and San Juan XXIII streets.
Nicolás Chaparro, director of Private Works for the municipality, described the event as "a fortunate disaster," as no one was inside the studio at the time of the collapse. The structure that fell was a ground-assembled crane tower used to dismantle another tower atop the building, which is in its finishing phase.
Chaparro detailed that the Works Inspection unit acted immediately. Those responsible for the construction were issued an intervention order, which outlines additional safety measures that must be taken, with an emphasis on protecting the neighboring property. They will have to repair all damage caused to the property and are subject to administrative sanctions.
The director stated that the municipality frequently receives and addresses complaints related to construction, such as falling materials, cracks, and ground movements, ensuring the responsible company takes care of any damage to private property.
