Paraguay's Ministry of Public Health (MSP) announced the opening of enrollment for the 2026 Breastfeeding Lactation Room Course, designed to train human resources, occupational health, staff welfare, and health promotion staff in both the public and private sectors. The initiative, led by the Department of Breastfeeding, aims to strengthen the creation and management of lactation rooms in workplaces, in compliance with current legislation.

Under Law No. 5,508/15 and its regulations, supplemented by Law No. 6,453/19, every public institution or company with more than ten female workers is required to have a breastfeeding lactation room — a private, hygienic, and adapted space for employees to extract and store milk during the workday. The measure seeks to ensure the continuity of breastfeeding after returning to work, benefiting mothers and babies.

The course is 100% virtual, asynchronous, and self-paced, allowing participants to choose the start month and progress at their own speed. The training is divided into weekly modules over three weeks, with a final online exam, and will be conducted through the platform of the National Institute of Health (INS). Enrollment can be done via the form available at https://forms.gle/u7UGiKqgcrbFkubaA.
