Merchants in Encarnación held another edition of the monthly Pasarela de Ofertas fair on Saturday, July 4, aiming to boost sales during the low season. The event turned Clementina Irrazábal Street into a pedestrian area from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., bringing together retailers who offered significant discounts on products such as clothing, footwear, bazaar items, and plants.

In addition to commercial promotions, the fair featured a food court, music, and interactive activities to attract families and stimulate the local economy. Alfredo Bareiro, vice president of the Encarnación Commercial Circuit Merchants Association, highlighted that public response has been positive with each edition and that the initiative will continue on the first weekend of each month during this period.

The measure seeks to compensate for the drop in sales caused by the end of the high season and the economic crisis in Argentina, which traditionally supplies most buyers in the border region. The Encarnación Commercial Circuit, located in the Buena Vista neighborhood, is one of the main economic centers on the border, with about 430 stores operating since 2010.

The area was created by the Binational Entity Yacyretá (EBY) to relocate merchants from the old Lower Zone of Encarnación, which was submerged after the water level of the hydroelectric dam rose. Located near the San Roque González International Bridge, which connects Paraguay and Argentina, the zone stands out for its competitive prices on electronics, clothing, and various goods.
