From June 3 to 6, the Itaipu Binacional hydroelectric plant on the Paraguay-Brazil border will host the 38th meeting of UNESCO's International Coordinating Council of the Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB-ICC). The event, with about 250 participants from 34 countries, will focus on clean energy and natural reserve management.

UNESCO released on Monday the Spanish version of the Virtual Museum of Stolen Cultural Property, an interactive platform featuring 241 missing items from 47 countries, with notable participation from Spanish-speaking nations, including Paraguay, which contributed two objects. The initiative has already aided in the recovery of pieces such as the gold helmet of Coțofenești from Romania.

The National Secretariat of Culture, the Paraguayan Institute of Crafts, the Pussineri Foundation and the Municipality of Piribebuy, with support from UNESCO, launched a mastery contest for the elaboration of the Poncho Para’i of 60 Stripes, an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. The in-person competition will be on May 20 at the Demetrio Ortiz Cultural Center in Piribebuy.

On the 80th anniversary of ICOM, International Museum Day (May 18) adopts the motto 'Museums uniting a divided world.' The date celebrates the transformation of these institutions from elitist temples to inclusive and participatory spaces, with emphasis on decolonization and the Paraguayan initiative 'Los museos se muestran.'

Paraguay's Public Ministry counts 12 femicide victims this year, with the most recent case in Loreto, Concepción. Additionally, a traffic accident in J. Augusto Saldívar and a fire in Guarambaré resulted in deaths.
