A persistent sewage leak is causing disruptions and concern on Camilo Recalde Avenue, located in the commercial microcenter of Ciudad del Este. The problem, attributed to the network of the Empresa de Servicios Sanitarios del Paraguay (Essap), generates a strong foul odor that spreads over several blocks, making movement through the area an unpleasant experience.
The wastewater apparently originates from sectors located in the upper part of the city and flows down Camilo Recalde Avenue towards the port area, leaving a trail of contamination and bad smell. Workers operating on the public street expressed their dissatisfaction with the unsanitary conditions they face daily.
"We can't stand the smell anymore, we need someone to intervene," complained some workers, who called for immediate action from the Municipality of Ciudad del Este and the state-owned company responsible for the sanitation service. They emphasized that the situation affects not only the city's image in the eyes of visitors but also the health of those who work and pass through the area.
The incident highlights once again the deficiencies of the sewage system in a strategic area of the city, through which thousands of people pass daily, including a significant flow of Brazilian and Argentine tourists who frequent the border trade circuit. Those affected are awaiting urgent intervention from the authorities to repair the leak and prevent it from continuing to impact one of the busiest sectors of the Esteño microcenter.
