The Segundo Foro Internacional de la Ingeniería (FIING) 2026 will be held on July 23 in Asunción, with the goal of debating the challenges of national development. The event is organized by the Centro Paraguayo de Ingenieros (CPI), coinciding with Paraguayan Engineer's Day and the entity's anniversary.

The gathering, themed "Generating dialogue to overcome major challenges," will take place at the CPI's institutional headquarters, located on Avenida España 959, near Washington, with free access upon prior registration on the designated digital platforms.

Engineer Amílcar Troche, president of the CPI, explained that the event will be divided into two blocks: a morning session aimed at students and young professionals, and an afternoon dedicated to strategic topics for business leaders and public administration representatives.

Among the highlights of the program is the presentation of major infrastructure works that are transforming regional logistics, such as the Bioceanic Route bridge, considered essential for continental integration and for South American trade flows. The Ypacaraí-Luque road connection will also be discussed, a project that has shown a multiplier effect on private investment in the region.

The forum will feature the presence of the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Marco Riquelme, who will present the Plan Paraguay 2X, a government initiative aimed at doubling the country's industrial development and attracting foreign investment in strategic sectors.

In the energy sector, engineer Pedro Domaniczky, from Itaipú Binacional, will address solar and wind renewable energy, while the Comisión Mixta del Río Paraná (COMIP), together with representatives from Argentina, will present details of the Corpus hydroelectric project, a binational undertaking with significance for the regional energy matrix.

The quality of higher education will also be on the agenda. Doctor José Duarte, president of the Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Acreditación de la Educación Superior (ANEAES), will speak about the state of engineering programs in Paraguay, a sensitive topic following recent accreditation challenges within Mercosur that have raised concerns in the field.

According to Troche, the event represents a networking and professional integration opportunity for recent graduates, allowing them to connect with the leaders of the projects driving the country's growth. The day will conclude at 8 p.m. with a reception and the presentation of awards for the CPI's anniversary.
