Foxconn has expressed genuine interest in exploring investment opportunities in artificial intelligence in Paraguay, Taiwan’s Embassy said after Ambassador Iván Lee received a company delegation. The visit was exploratory; no projects, amounts or timelines were announced.
In a statement, the embassy described the outreach as a potential combination of Taiwanese technology and expertise, Paraguay’s natural resources and the country’s young talent. “We can build something great together,” the diplomatic message said.
Foxconn, the name by which Hon Hai Technology Group is known, is a Taiwanese technology and electronics manufacturing company. The delegation visited Paraguay to learn about opportunities related to artificial intelligence.
The embassy also linked the visit to training skilled professionals. According to the statement, years ago the company pointed out that Paraguay would need high-level engineers proficient in English to attract high-tech investment. That vision was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the Taiwan-Paraguay Polytechnic University (UPTP).
The institution is therefore part of the workforce-training context cited by the embassy. The statement, however, announced no partnership, hiring or Foxconn project connected to the university.
