Two minors aged 16 were detained by Lambaré Police on Tuesday, suspected of trying to steal the car of a ride-share driver. According to the complaint, the driver answered a service call near the Lambaré Hospital, where she picked up the two youths. During the trip, they demanded she get out of the vehicle, pointing a weapon at her.

The driver responded that the car had a GPS tracking system, which made the assailants abandon the crime and flee the scene. The victim called the 911 Emergency System, describing the suspects. Officers from the 17th Central Police Station began a search in the area, accompanied by the driver, and located the two adolescents a few blocks from the crime scene.

“When they saw the patrol car, they hid the weapon, but it was recovered,” said Commissioner Gustavo Escobar, head of the 17th Central Police Station. The seized weapon was a replica of a 9mm pistol. The minors, who have no criminal record, were taken to Villa Elisa Hospital for medical examinations and are at the disposal of prosecutor Nora Cubilla from the 1st Unit of Lambaré.
