The Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC) has begun gradually relocating its units to a new central headquarters in Tower 1 of the Government Offices complex at the Port of Asunción. The initiative consolidates into a single building all the offices that are currently spread across the capital and is expected to house around 1,500 civil servants.
By concentrating its departments, the MEC will stop occupying approximately 15 rented properties in Asunción. The estimated monthly savings exceed 500 million guaraníes, representing roughly 7 billion guaraníes per year. According to the ministry, the freed-up resources will be redirected to pending educational priorities in the country.
The ministry stated that no prolonged suspension of services is expected and that the process will continue in the coming days, with official updates on which departments will already be operating at the new address and which alternative service channels will be made available on a temporary basis.
