Paraguay's Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has launched two international bids for the rehabilitation and maintenance of over 219 kilometers of roads in the Concepción department, with a combined reference investment of G. 1.089 trillion. The projects are financed by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF).
The first bid, identified as ID 488061, covers 181.3 km of the PY22 route on the Concepción–Vallemí–San Lázaro stretch and its access roads, with a reference value of G. 819.864 billion. This corridor is vital for the transport of cement, lime, and other products, in addition to connecting communities and tourist attractions in the country's north.
The second, ID 488092, involves 37.84 km distributed across five strategic sectors: the Cruce Primavera–San Ramón stretch (14.56 km), San Ramón–Concepción (13.10 km), the access road to the future Paracel plant (3.99 km), the Concepción bypass between Santa Rosa and the PY05 route (4.68 km), and a connecting sub-section to the bypass (1.51 km), with a reference budget of G. 269.224 billion.
Both will be executed under the Service-Level Rehabilitation and Maintenance Contract (CREMA) modality, which includes everything from earthmoving and paving to drainage, signage, and environmental infrastructure, such as wildlife crossings. Interested companies must demonstrate financial capacity and experience in similar works.
Proposals for both bids will be received on August 6 at the MOPC. The projects aim to improve regional logistics, support industrial ventures like the Paracel pulp plant, and facilitate freight transport and community access.
