Olimpia reports player sales in mid-year transfer window

Olimpia conducted transfer business during the mid-year window after winning the 2026 Apertura Championship and qualifying for the Round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana.

Midfielder Hugo Lorenzo Quintana, 24, who came through the club's youth academy, was transferred to Ecuador’s Independiente del Valle. According to unofficial figures cited in the report, the Ecuadorian club paid $2 million for 50% of his economic rights.

Goalkeeper Facundo Insfrán Lirussi, 20, from Encarnación, was transferred to the United Arab Emirates' Al-Wahda FC for $700,000, also for 50% of his economic rights; the report says his age could help the club earn money from a future transfer.

Another transaction was that of 26-year-old forward Adrián Alcaraz Torales, transferred to Mexico's Pachuca for $1.8 million, corresponding to 70% of his rights.

Furthermore, the club loaned 21-year-old forward Tiago Caballero to Argentina's Banfield at no cost but with an option to buy.

Among those who left the squad coached by manager Pablo "Vitamina" Sánchez are Alejandro Silva, Lucas Morales, Rodrigo Pérez, Aníbal Chalá, Alan Ledesma, and Junior Gamarra.

In terms of new signings, Olimpia opted for targeted reinforcements: 35-year-old Argentine forward Braian Romero and 32-year-old New Zealand right-back Tim Payne, whose arrival in the country is scheduled for next Monday.

Returning to the club for observation are players Alexis Cantero, Víctor Sebastián Quintana, Pedro Zarza, Paulo Riveros, and Julio Alexis Vargas. Some of them will stay, while others will be sent out on loan, as will Javier Domínguez, who was recently at Atlético Tucumán.
