Simultaneous internal party elections will take place on June 7, with 4,338,716 eligible voters casting ballots for mayoral and council candidates in every district of Paraguay. Although these are internal processes for parties, movements, and alliances, the Superior Electoral Court (TSJE) provides technical and logistical support.
At stake are 263 municipal mayor candidacies and 2,832 full council member seats, along with their respective alternates. Municipal councils range from 9 to 24 members, depending on the district.
The National Republican Association (ANR) leads in the number of eligible voters, with 2,806,860 people who will be able to vote at 8,018 polling stations equipped with voting machines. The party also has 1,029 backup devices and 481 for training.
The Authentic Radical Liberal Party (PLRA) has 1,531,856 eligible voters, distributed across 3,935 polling stations, in addition to 678 backup machines and 505 for training. The remaining political organizations will share 1,000 voting machines, 296 reserve units, and 562 for training.
In total, 13,031 polling stations will be operational with an equal number of voting machines, plus 2,003 backup devices and 1,548 for training — a total of 16,582 machines nationwide. Voters must present a valid or expired identity card; electronic IDs will not be accepted.
The TSJE will deploy 82,429 people to oversee the process, including 39,093 polling station members and 15,000 police and military personnel. The remainder are electoral agents in roles such as technical support, operators of the Preliminary Election Results Transmission (TREP) system, coordinators, result collectors, trainers, and court delegates.
Logistics call for the use of 280 large Armed Forces vehicles, vans, and medium-sized vehicles, as well as one boat, one helicopter, and one airplane.
In all, 32 political parties, 22 movements, and 214 alliances are participating in the primaries. Eleven organizations will also elect their party authorities, including the PLRA, National Encounter Party (PEN), Citizen Participation Party (PPC), Christian Democratic Party (PDC), Beloved Homeland Party (PPQ), Independent Patriots Party (PPI), Let's Do It Political Party (PPH), Febrerista Revolutionary Party (PRF), National Crusade Party (PCN), Dreamed Homeland Party (PPS), and Liberty and Republic Party (PLYR).
