The candidate for mayor of Asunción from the opposition alliance Unidos por Asunción, Soledad Núñez, met with officials from the Superior Electoral Court (TSJE) to denounce what she called "vote stuffing" and to demand stricter oversight in the municipal elections on October 4.

The delegation, which included Senators Eduardo Nakayama and Rafael Filizzola, as well as former Senator Stephan Rasmussen, leader of the Patria Querida Party, was received by the TSJE president, Jorge Bogarín, and Minister César Rossel. Minister Jaime Bestard, from the ANR, did not attend for the second consecutive meeting.

During the meeting, the alliance expressed concern over irregularities recorded in the internal municipal elections on June 7, especially the improper insertion of votes into the ballot boxes and the lack of supervision at the polling stations. The group asked the court to strengthen controls over eligible voters, votes cast, voting certificates, minutes, and final results.

"Each counted vote must correspond exclusively to a real, free, individual, and verifiable ballot," the alliance representatives stated. They also requested an absolute ban on any actions that replace the voter's will or alter the number of votes.

Among their main demands, Unidos por Asunción called for mandatory manual counting for single-candidate races, especially for mayoral positions nationwide. The alliance also proposed limiting approximately 300 voters per polling station to ensure an orderly flow of voters.

Candidate Soledad Núñez currently has the support of the PLRA and its list of councilors, the alliance formed by 14 parties, and the Christian Democratic Party (PDC), whose mayoral candidate withdrew to join forces with the opposition coalition.
