Hohenau Crayfish Processing Plant Expected to Create 600 Jobs and Export to Europe

The city of Hohenau, in the department of Itapúa, is preparing to open a Patagonian crayfish processing plant, with an investment of over US$43 million from South Atlantic Company S.A., linked to the Wofco group. The facility, which will process about 600 tons of seafood per year for the European market, is expected to generate 600 direct jobs. The raw material will come from Rawson, Argentina, and ANDE has already installed an electrical substation to reinforce power supply at the industrial park.

The city of Hohenau, in the department of Itapúa, is about to become a new industrial hub with the upcoming opening of a Patagonian crayfish processing plant, expected to begin operations in about a month. The venture, by South Atlantic Company S.A., linked to the Wofco group, has received investments exceeding US$43 million.

The facility will have the capacity to process approximately 600 tons of seafood per year, destined mainly for the European market. The raw material will be transported from Rawson, Argentina, for processing in Paraguay.

The project plans to create about 600 direct jobs. The call for interested candidates is already underway, and the mayor of Hohenau, Enrique Hahn, confirmed that the selection process remains open, encouraging applicants to present themselves at the industrial complex.

To support the operation, the National Electricity Administration (ANDE) installed an electrical substation at the industrial park, reinforcing the power supply.
