Despite lower temperatures, the Aedes aegypti mosquito remains active in Paraguay. According to the weekly report from the Dirección General de Vigilancia de la Salud, the country records an average of 151 suspected dengue cases per week, with low virus circulation and a situation considered stable.
In the past three weeks, 12 dengue cases were confirmed across four regions: Asunción with seven, Central with three, and Concepción and Caazapá with one each. Among the confirmed cases, the DENV-2 serotype was identified. Four people were hospitalized during this period, with no deaths reported.
The municipality of Limpio, which was facing an outbreak, showed a decline in notifications, with no new cases in recent weeks. On the other hand, regions that reported an increase in suspected cases include Central, Alto Paraná, Itapúa, Concepción, Cordillera, Misiones, Caazapá, Amambay, Canindeyú, Guairá, and Alto Paraguay.
So far in 2026, Paraguay has recorded 261 confirmed dengue cases. Regarding chikungunya, one case was confirmed in the last three weeks, bringing the total for the year to 16, including three imported from Bolivia.
The Ministry of Public Health emphasizes that anyone experiencing suspicious symptoms should seek medical attention. Periodic elimination of breeding sites, especially with ongoing rainfall, is highlighted as a key measure to combat arboviruses in the country.
