Paraguay's forestry sector exports grew 4.6% in volume and 9% in value between January and May 2026, totaling 68,953 tons and US$38.08 million, driven mainly by plywood and charcoal with briquettes, according to data from the Unión de Gremios de la Producción (UGP) based on figures from the Instituto Forestal Nacional (Infona).

Paraguay's forestry sector exports continue to show growth on a year-to-date basis. Between January and May, shipments totaled 68,953 tons, equivalent to $38.08 million, surpassing the 65,812 tons and $34.68 million recorded in the same period of 2025. The result represents a 4.6% increase in volume and a 9% rise in value compared to the previous year.

The figures come from a survey released by the Unión de Gremios de la Producción (UGP), based on data from the Instituto Forestal Nacional (Infona). The organization points out that the sector's momentum is driven mainly by two products: plywood and charcoal with briquettes.

Plywood recorded a 15.5% increase in volume, with 13,187 tons exported, while the value shipped rose 17.7%, reaching $11.28 million. Charcoal and briquettes, which lead the sector's foreign sales, saw an 8% increase in volume, with 43,079 tons, and a 35% jump in revenue, which reached $19.22 million.

The posts, poles, and corner posts segment also posted a positive performance, with a 10.4% increase in volume and a 48.2% rise in value, driven by improvements in both demand and international prices.

Not all products followed the upward trend. Exports of sawn wood, wood veneers, and parquet flooring strips declined during the period.
