The Paraguayan forestry sector closed May 2026 with exports of wood products with an FOB value of US$8,575,626, consolidating its presence in 28 countries, according to a report from the National Forestry Institute (Infona).
The United States remained the main destination for shipments, with purchases of US$2,313,841. The United Kingdom came in second, with US$1,132,260, followed by Germany, with US$695,883. Other relevant markets during the month were Spain (US$577,423), Uruguay (US$527,449), and Israel (US$451,329), reflecting a sustained diversification of the national forestry production's export destinations.
Regarding the sector's imports, the report details a strong concentration in industrialized inputs. Fiberboard led foreign purchases, with 3,237 tons worth US$1,508,313, followed by particleboard, with 1,995 tons worth US$803,487. To a lesser extent, sawn timber (398 tons) and sawdust (35 tons) entered the country.
Infona highlighted that the sector's trade balance continues to show competitiveness in international markets.
