Exports from Paraguay's maquila sector totaled $858.7 million through July 2026, registering growth of 32.1% compared to the same period the previous year, according to data from the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP). The performance was driven mainly by products considered new within the regime, which showed faster expansion than traditional ones.
The new products totaled $250.3 million, with an increase of 58.8%, while traditional ones reached $507.3 million, with a rise of 19.4%. Other manufactured items, classified as "Other products," totaled $101 million and grew 50.3%.
Among traditional products, wires and cables for auto parts maintained the lead in export value, with $266.7 million and growth of 25.6%. Next are clothing and other textile articles, with $93.6 million and an increase of 14.7%, and yarns, fabrics, and carpets, which totaled $45.6 million with a rise of 9.7%.
In the new products group, undenatured ethyl alcohol was the main highlight, with $94 million and significant growth. Aluminum and its manufactures came in second, with $57.7 million, but registered a slight contraction of 0.8%. Crown and screw caps for packaging also had relevant performance, with $41.1 million and expansion of 27.1%.
Biodiesel, although with a lower absolute value, deserves mention for its significant growth in exports, reaching $24.5 million. The numbers confirm the diversification and dynamism of the Paraguayan maquila sector, with new products gaining increasing space in the international market.
