The data comes from the Henley Passport Index, considered the most comprehensive and reliable ranking on the subject, which monitors visa policies worldwide.
This advance represents a sustained improvement since 2020, when the country had visa-free access to 141 destinations. In 2025, Paraguay reached 30th place, with 148 countries accessible without a visa, but it is currently in 28th place, rounding out the list of the top ten passports in the Americas.
In the regional context, Chile leads by a wide margin, appearing in 14th place globally with access to 174 countries. Argentina and Brazil share 16th place, with 169 destinations each. Mexico and Uruguay are tied for 22nd, with 156 countries, followed by Antigua and Barbuda (24th, 154 destinations), Costa Rica (26th, 148), and Panama (27th, 147).
At the top of the global ranking is Singapore, with visa-free access to 192 countries. Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates are tied for second place, with 188 destinations each. Sweden completes the podium with 187, while several European nations, including Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands, share fourth place with 186. The United States appears in tenth place, with 180 destinations.
The index is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), supplemented by government, public, and journalistic sources, and considers individual travel for tourism or business, with a valid passport and short stays.
