MINGA GUAZÚ – An intelligence alert issued by the Tripartite Command about an alleged mega-heist plan mobilized a large contingent of police and military personnel at Guarani International Airport on Wednesday. The information, received at 4:30 p.m., indicates that a criminal group of 20 to 25 people, heavily armed and with several vehicles, planned to steal a large volume of electronic goods during the night unloading.
Chief Commissioner Arnaldo Irala, head of Prevention for the National Police Directorate in Alto Paraná, confirmed that between 30 and 40 officers were deployed, including members of the Special Operations Group (GEO), patrols, and two armored vehicles. Soldiers from the Joint Task Force (FTC) also joined the operation.
Irala explained that even before the threat, high-value cargo was already escorted by at least five vehicles. With the new information, security was reinforced both inside the airport and during the transfer and unloading of goods. The intelligence report called for heightened vigilance on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday nights between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., but police presence will be maintained 24 hours a day.
