President Santiago Peña met on Friday with Humaid Obaid Abushibs, the president of the United Arab Emirates' Accountability Authority, to advance an anti-corruption plan being promoted by the Paraguayan government.
The meeting was attended by the Comptroller General of the Republic, Camilo Benítez, and the Chief of Staff of the Presidency, Javier Giménez, along with technical teams from both institutions.
Peña highlighted that the project strongly relies on digitalization, transparency, and the use of artificial intelligence to optimize public spending and consolidate a culture of accountability in Paraguay.
The Paraguayan president emphasized the solid relationship with the United Arab Emirates and the support received, claiming that strategic alliances allow for improving public spending, strengthening the economy, and encouraging foreign investment in the country.
The Emirati official arrived in the morning at the Silvio Pettirossi Airport in Luque, where he was received at the presidential ramp by Peña and his officials. Subsequently, the president traveled to Ayolas, in the Misiones department, for an event at the Yacyretá hydroelectric plant.
