The Secretariat for the Prevention of Money Laundering (Seprelad) reminded that the deadline for the payment of the annual fee for the 2026 fiscal year is June 30. This payment is mandatory for the obligated parties under the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering, which includes individuals and legal entities such as banks, financial institutions, currency exchange houses, real estate agencies, jewelry stores, casinos, accountants, lawyers, among others. The collected amount funds part of the institution’s budget.
To make the payment, the obligated party must access Seprelad’s SIRO system, download the individual settlement with the updated amount, and make a deposit or transfer to the current account of Banco Nacional de Fomento, in the name of the Public Treasury – Seprelad. After payment, the receipt must be uploaded to the SIRO system within 24 hours to complete the process. If payment is made after the deadline, a 2% monthly penalty on the amount due will be applied, compounded.
Additionally, Seprelad has mandated that sectors linked to financial entities, cooperatives, insurance companies, and political parties must compulsorily update their data in the SIRO system. This update, which has been in effect since Monday, covers banks, financial institutions, brokerage houses, cooperatives, notary offices, insurance companies, mutual fund administrators, casinos, credit houses, political parties, electronic payment entities, and fiduciary companies.
When accessing the SIRO system, users will see an alert directing them to a form to update their information. The institution emphasized that completing this form is a mandatory condition to continue using the platform. This measure aims to ensure the integrity and validity of the registered data, strengthening control and prevention against money laundering and terrorist financing.
