Enrique Alfredo Stroessner Fleitas, the extramarital son of dictator Alfredo Stroessner who was legally recognized in 2022, has intensified his legal battle over a valuable seven-hectare plot in the center of Ciudad del Este, near the Friendship Bridge. His lawyers, Nicolás Manfredo Russo Galeano and Eugenio Guerín Gómez, have requested precautionary measures to prevent alterations to the site, where malls such as Paris, Del Este, and Box currently operate.
The lawsuit, filed in the Civil Court of Presidente Franco under Judge Sara Silva Figueredo, seeks to reverse the expropriation carried out in 1990 and nullify concessions granted to private companies. The representatives allege that the area, originally intended for the relocation of informal vendors, was misused by the local municipality.
The proceedings also mention alleged political pressure on the Court of Accounts to influence decisions regarding the land. The lawyers have requested that the National Police and the oversight body be notified to prevent new construction on the site while the case is ongoing.
