The Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) has issued a special bulletin warning of a strong mass of cold air that is expected to hit Paraguay starting this Tuesday, July 7th, causing a sharp drop in minimum temperatures.

According to the agency, the early mornings of Tuesday and Wednesday will see temperatures between 2 °C and 4 °C in the south and part of the center of the Eastern Region, as well as the extreme west of the Chaco. In the rest of the country, minimums are expected to be around 6 °C or above.

The phenomenon will bring a risk of frost formation, especially in the southern departments, such as Ñeembucú and Itapúa. On Wednesday, Alto Paraná is also forecast to experience minimums of 2 °C.

Authorities recommend that the population take precautions against the intense cold, especially children, the elderly, homeless people, and rural producers, due to the imminent risk of frost damage.
