The historic Port of Asunción, which had been without commercial operations since 2012, is set to resume its activities this November following a transformation driven by private investment. The firm Nuevo Mundo Entertainment S.A. is leading the conversion project for the four port warehouses, with an investment exceeding US$5.5 million.

The work follows the protocols of Paraguay's National Secretariat of Culture (SNC) to preserve the identity of the structures. The largest of the warehouses is practically complete, while the other three are underway. The plan is for two to become service centers, one to be dedicated to gastronomy, and the fourth to be used for conventions, seminars, events, and private shows.

In addition to the warehouse revitalization, the initiative includes critical structural repairs to the wharf. According to Julio César Vera, president of the National Administration of Navigation and Ports (ANNP), an inspection identified 78 pillars with problems and the absence of 110 linear meters of reinforced concrete beams, requiring interventions to guarantee safety.

As part of the agreement, Nuevo Mundo Entertainment will pay annual royalties for the use of the warehouses and will transfer 10% of its revenue. The company will also have the right to operate the parking lots in the basements 1 and 2 of the state buildings located around the port.
