The first edition of Crazy Week, a commercial event organized by the Chamber of Industry, Commerce, Tourism and Services (CICTS) of Pedro Juan Caballero and the Commercial and Business Association of Ponta Porã, is scheduled to take place from June 25 to 28 on the border between Paraguay and Brazil, with discounts ranging from 10% to 50% on a variety of products.
Organizers expect to welcome more than 50,000 shopping tourists during the event, generating approximately $35 million. Anderson Carpes, a member of the commercial chamber, highlighted that the large influx of visitors is expected to create a significant multiplier effect in the hospitality, food service, and fuel sectors, among others.
Pedro Ivo De Mauro, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Pedro Juan Caballero, stated that Crazy Week will be one of the largest commercial events on the border and emphasized that there is excellent coordination on security matters with the Amambay Police Directorate, which will allow visitors to shop peacefully.
Running alongside the commercial promotions, the "Feria Sin Fronteras" will be held—a multicultural fair with more than 100 participants from the cultural sector. According to Lilian Ríos, president of the Municipal Tourism Council of Ponta Porã, the fair seeks to bring the two cities together through culture, featuring crafts, dance, music, and cuisine from both countries.
The cultural program will take place on Saturday the 27th, starting at 4 p.m. and running into the evening, and on Sunday the 28th, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., in front of the Hotel Porta do Sol, on the international boundary line. Organizers noted that electronics, IT products, and beverages will be available at prices well below those normally found in stores.
