The Museo de Ciencias (MuCi) is entering the final stretch of its May programming with a series of activities combining astronomy, nature, and creativity for the whole family. The agenda for the coming days highlights the opening of interactive outdoor spaces and immersive shows at the San Cosmos planetarium, consolidating the museum as an accessible science outreach center in Paraguay.
Among the central activities of this month's closing is the "Moon Observation," scheduled for this Saturday, May 23. The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the MuCi plaza, with free and open access. During the session, participants will be able to use the museum's telescope, called "MuCiTron," to discover details of the lunar surface and explore the night sky in a guided citizen science experience.
In parallel, the San Cosmos Planetarium continues to offer its immersive audiovisual shows about the universe, stars, and space exploration, with projections every hour. For children and youth, the educational proposal "Cosmic Scales" continues, a space that uses physical comparisons to scale the solar system, available on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Saturdays at 8 p.m., exclusive astronomical shows for adults will be held, focusing on constellations and supernovae, with limited spots and advance reservation.
The museum's offering for these weeks includes the "Open Sky Science" initiative, a circuit of three self-guided learning stations that operate daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at no cost. The stations cover the Thematic Gardens in front of the planetarium, aimed at recognizing medicinal and aromatic plants; the Bio-Pond, a balanced microecosystem housing native fish; and the Interactive Trail of the Little Forest, designed to reflect on Earth's biological connection.
The calendar also includes specific workshops with affordable costs of G. 15,000. On Thursdays and Fridays, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., "Native Scales" takes place, a guided tour to learn about Paraguay's aquatic fauna in the bio-pond. On Saturdays, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., "Sábado porã" will be held, a workshop on wild bird observation and urban botany inside the Little Forest. Those interested in securing spots for the shows or coordinating group and institutional visits can make reservations through the web platform muci.org.
