Son assaults mother with piece of wood after she refuses money for drinks in Itakyry

A 25-year-old man was arrested after assaulting his own mother with a piece of wood because she refused to give him money to buy alcoholic drinks. The incident occurred in the Santa Lucía colony, Itakyry district, Alto Paraná. The 55-year-old victim suffered cuts to her face and filed a formal complaint.

Two days after Mother's Day, the National Police arrested Richard Darich Galeano González, a 25-year-old farmer, accused of assaulting his own mother with a piece of wood. The crime occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Monday in the Santa Lucía colony, Itakyry district, in the department of Alto Paraná.

According to the police report, the mother, Luciana González Inchausti, 55, refused to give her son money to buy alcoholic drinks. Angered, he picked up a piece of firewood and struck her, causing cuts to her face. After the assault, the young man fled to the Juryry indigenous community in the same district.

Local residents, who are part of the community security committee, managed to detain the suspect and handed him over to the police. Subcommissioner Marisa Balmori told NPY that the arrest occurred as he was heading to the Jukyry indigenous community, where he supposedly lives with a neighbor.

The victim herself filed the complaint on Monday. Neighbors reported that it was not the first time the young man had acted violently toward his mother, but this was the first time a police report was filed. The case was forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
