The Municipality of Lambaré allegedly disbursed about G. 6 billion for a road project that shows no visible signs of having begun, while important parts of the city remain in poor condition. The case has emerged amid complaints from residents and drivers about the prolonged deterioration of urban infrastructure.
On Paseo del Yacht Avenue, at the intersection with Ñemby Street, the pavement has potholes, cracks, sections of destroyed cobblestone and displaced metal grates. The problem affects a heavily trafficked corridor used daily by thousands of people and causes vehicle damage and noise when tires strike the loose structures.
Superficial repairs carried out by the municipal administration allegedly would not withstand the rain. Poor stormwater drainage worsens the situation: water accumulates and washes away the resurfacing, accelerating the destruction of the roadway. The situation also increases risks for pedestrians and drivers, especially during storms and at night.
The neglect extends to sidewalks near vacant lots. Discarded furniture, household waste and other refuse have created open-air accumulation points, making it difficult for pedestrians to pass and creating unsanitary conditions for residents in the area.
The complaints concern the administration of Mayor Guido González. Residents say the problem is not isolated and that streets and avenues in different parts of Lambaré have been deteriorating for months. The main demand is for explanations about the destination of the G. 6 billion and for effective intervention on the road corridor.
However, the amount is presented in the complaints as approximately G. 6 billion, without the material released detailing the contract, the company responsible, the schedule or the payments made. For that reason, the figure and any administrative responsibility still require verification through official documents and explanations from the Municipality of Lambaré.
