The municipal primaries this Sunday, June 7, recorded episodes of violence and irregularities in different parts of the country from the early hours of voting. Lambaré, in the Central Department, saw the highest number of incidents, with clashes in at least three schools used as polling stations: Santa Lucía School, Bernardo Ocampos School, and República de Ecuador School. According to reports, there were arguments, shoving, and physical assaults, with the composition of polling boards being the main point of friction at the start of operations.
In San Lorenzo, also in the Central Department, voting did not begin at 7 a.m. at the traditional Saturio Ríos School because not all polling boards had been constituted, as reported by voters present.
In the Cordillera department, in the town of Mbocayaty, a mayoral candidate for the Authentic Radical Liberal Party (PLRA) denounced the exclusion of polling boards and assaults at a party polling station. Additionally, unknown individuals reportedly scattered nails known as "clavos miguelito" on the streets, apparently with the aim of harming a particular internal faction, according to the complaint.
