Lindomar Reges Furtado, once Brazil's most wanted drug trafficker and a key figure in the network dismantled by Paraguay's Operation A Ultranza, was sentenced to 37 years in prison by a federal court in Rio de Janeiro. The conviction stems from his role in smuggling 6.68 tons of cocaine to Europe and Africa, and his escape from a luxury condominium in Paraguay in 2022.
