Paraguay's wholesale and retail merchants project growth exceeding 5% for the sector in 2026, driven by strong performance in the first quarter and stabilization in the second. The expectation was announced during the launch of the third edition of the Expo COMAMPAR.
Miguel Tolce, vice president of the Paraguayan Chamber of Wholesale and Retail Merchants (COMAMPAR), highlighted that the exchange rate scenario, with the depreciation of the dollar, has helped contain or reduce prices of mass-consumption products. He also stressed that this situation favors greater participation of national industry on store shelves, with categories once dominated by imports now having between 60% and 80% of items produced locally.
The sector, which generates more than 20,000 direct and indirect jobs in the country, assesses that the government has created adequate conditions for the development of commerce, allowing the private sector to operate with autonomy and efficiency.
The Expo COMAMPAR 2026 will take place on October 8 and 9 at the CONMEBOL Convention Center in Asunción. The event, whose motto is "Connecting commerce, creating future," will bring together more than 150 supplier companies, 100 exhibition stands, and expects to receive over 4,500 visitors.
Silvio Giménez, president of COMAMPAR, emphasized that the fair is an opportunity to strengthen the wholesale sector, which connects producers, businesses, and consumers across the country. The program includes conferences with national and international experts, networking spaces, discussion panels, and activities aimed at generating new commercial alliances.
