Residents of Chako’i Demand Improvements to Rural Road Hindering Production Flow

Inhabitants of the Chako’i community in San Juan Bautista, Misiones, have been requesting for years the restoration of a 4 km stretch that connects the community to the city. The narrow road, lacking proper drainage, prevents vehicle traffic and hinders the transport of agricultural products for 25 families. The city government states that work will begin this week.

Residents of the Chako’i community, in the district of San Juan Bautista, department of Misiones, are renewing their request for the restoration of the only road access connecting the community to the urban center. The four-kilometer stretch, according to them, has been in critical condition for years, without an effective response from municipal and departmental authorities.

Residents report that the road is too narrow to allow two vehicles to pass and lacks side ditches. On rainy days, water runs down the center of the road, causing cuts and making traffic even more difficult. The situation directly affects 25 families who rely on local agricultural production, as the flow and commercialization of products are compromised.

The San Juan Bautista city government reported that, since last week, machines have been carrying out repairs in various communities in the municipality and that work in Chako’i will be carried out this week. The promise, however, does not dispel the residents' distrust, who say they have made similar requests on previous occasions without obtaining concrete results.
