The deadline to renew vehicle registration in Asunción expires on Tuesday, June 30. After that date, the Asunción Municipality will begin imposing administrative sanctions on drivers who circulate without the corresponding sticker, which is required to travel on public roads in the capital and on national routes.
To avoid long lines, the municipality has set up three service points. The first is the workshop of the company Ivesur, located on Salvador Bogado Street, between José Pappalardo, in the Itay neighborhood, where taxpayers can complete the Vehicle Technical Inspection (ITV) and pay the fee consecutively. The second option is the firm Coarco S.A.C.I., at 2760 Teniente Rolón Viera Street, almost on the corner of Ecuador, in the Vista Alegre neighborhood, which also offers the ITV and payment of taxes.
The third alternative is the Asunción Municipality Traffic Department, in Block C of the Palacete Municipal, located at 5556 Mariscal López Avenue, on the corner of Capitán Bueno. This location serves exclusively those citizens who own vehicles exempt from physical mechanical inspections. All three centers operate Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The ITV is a mandatory requirement to obtain vehicle registration, with the exception of vehicles manufactured in 2024, 2025, and 2026, which are exempt from the inspection. Additionally, drivers who transfer their registration file from any other municipality in Paraguay to the capital are entitled to an incentive: the municipal ordinance grants a free ITV for one year when registering the vehicle for the first time in Asunción.
The cost of vehicle registration follows the provisions of the new Law No. 7.459/2025, on Vehicle Registration Tax, which reduced the taxable rate from 0.5% to 0.3% on the tax value set by the National Traffic and Safety Agency. The taxable amount and tax calculation can be consulted on the agency's website.
The fine for driving without valid registration is equivalent to four minimum daily wages. Through the end of June, the amount is G. 446,008. Starting July 1, when the new registrations take effect and the Municipal Traffic Police will be able to fine vehicles with expired 2025 registration, the minimum wage adjustment decreed by the Executive Branch will raise the penalty to G. 468,308.
