Renovation work on Azara and General Díaz streets in Asunción has entered its final stage, with painting and road markings underway. The project covers 16 blocks between Colón and Tacuary streets and is part of the ASU 400 Blocks Plan of the Municipality of Asunción.
Road-marking work advanced over the weekend, when vehicle traffic is lighter. The measure completes an intervention that included leveling and renewing the asphalt, as well as applying hydraulic concrete to sections requiring greater strength and durability.
With the markings in place, the central area is expected to have more orderly lanes and better road-safety conditions. General Díaz is one of the main access routes to the capital’s downtown area, while Azara runs through a heavily trafficked area.
The municipal plan has already surpassed 138 blocks receiving asphalt paving, hydraulic concrete, resurfacing and the construction of cobblestone sidewalks in different neighborhoods and strategic areas of Asunción. The work is being carried out during the administration of Mayor Luis Bello.
The completion of the 16 blocks represents a specific stage within the program’s target of 400 blocks. However, this update does not provide a date for the formal handover or detail the cost of the work on Azara and General Díaz streets.
