The duplication works for the Las Residentas Road Corridor, known as Tape Tuja (General Elizardo Aquino Avenue, route D025), advance with the assembly of the longitudinal beams for the future return viaduct over Silvio Pettirossi Avenue, in the Ñu Guasu area.
The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reported that work has begun on the first three spans located within the Paraguayan Air Force grounds. The installation of beams over Silvio Pettirossi Avenue itself is scheduled for August 15 and 16, requiring temporary diversions.
These beams will serve as support for the pavement slab on which vehicles will travel. After this stage, construction will advance with the placement of cross bracing beams, responsible for joining the structure and ensuring its stability, followed by the addition of prefabricated slabs and pouring of the definitive slab.
The new viaduct will eliminate the current at-grade crossing between the Las Residentas Road Corridor and Silvio Pettirossi Avenue, one of the points with the highest vehicular flow in the metropolitan area. The structure will allow vehicles to access the Superviaduct and Asunción via a grade-separated passage, without interrupting the main highway flow.
The work is being executed by the company Benito Roggio e Hijos S.A., with financing from the Itaipu Technological Park Foundation–Paraguay (FPTI-PY) and supervision by the MOPC. Originally awarded for G. 133.573 million, the investment has already reached G. 166.960 million, representing an increase of approximately 25% over the initial value, justified by the MOPC due to the incorporation of hydraulic works, an additional bridge, returns, roundabouts, and intersections into the final project.
In parallel, between August 10 and 30, vehicular diversions will be implemented at the intersection of General Elizardo Aquino Avenue with Sudamericana Avenue due to the installation of concrete cellular galleries to improve stormwater drainage. During this period, the left lane entering Luque will be temporarily closed, with traffic diverted to one of the central lanes.
The Highway Patrol and the Municipal Traffic Police will accompany the operations to guide drivers. It is recommended to respect the temporary signage, follow the instructions of the agents, and travel at a maximum speed of 20 km/h due to the reduced road capacity.
