Bella Vista Residents Report 'Ash Rain' from Industry, Demand Urgent Solution

For seven years, families in Bella Vista, Itapúa, have suffered constant ash and coal dust falling from a local industry. Resident Nancy Maldonado says the problem worsens with the wind, soiling homes and clothes, and has been reported to the city hall without concrete measures being taken. Neighbors are calling for urgent intervention from authorities and environmental controls.

Residents of the Bella Vista district in Itapúa report that they have lived for years under a constant 'ash rain' of coal dust (carbonilla) from a local industry. According to them, the situation daily affects dozens of families and raises concerns about potential health and quality-of-life impacts.

Nancy Maldonado, one of the affected neighbors, said the problem has recurred for seven years. 'Today we woke up again with the same problem, and this happens every day. We cannot live like this,' she said, showing images and videos in which a significant amount of black particles can be seen accumulated on floors, patios, and furniture.

According to Maldonado, the 'ash rain' intensifies depending on the wind direction and reaches different parts of the neighborhood. 'You cannot hang clothes outside because they end up all dirty. If there is dew, it is even worse,' she lamented.

The resident stated that previous complaints have been made to the city hall, but so far no concrete measures have been taken. 'They always promise they will solve it, but it remains the same,' she declared.

Faced with the lack of a solution, the neighbors are calling for urgent intervention from authorities and the implementation of environmental control mechanisms. 'There has to be a solution. We cannot continue living like this,' Maldonado concluded.

The responsible industry has not been identified or contacted for comment.
