Motorcyclist escapes death by centimeters after uneven patch on Route PY02

A 22-year-old man lost control of his motorcycle when he hit a dangerous uneven patch on Route PY02 in Fernando de la Mora. A security camera captured the moment he avoided being run over by a truck by a matter of centimeters.

A 22-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Alex Paiva, narrowly escaped tragedy on the morning of Tuesday, May 20, on Route PY02 in Fernando de la Mora. At around 10:25 a.m., as he rode over a sharp uneven patch in the asphalt, the motorcycle jolted violently and Paiva fell into the left lane of the road.

Footage from a security camera mounted on a car traveling just behind shows the exact moment of the fall. By a matter of milliseconds and just a few centimeters, the young man was not struck by a cargo truck traveling in the parallel lane. The driver of the vehicle behind stopped immediately to provide assistance.

The accident occurred just over a kilometer from the Fernando de la Mora municipal building. Route PY02, which links Asunción to Ciudad del Este, is one of the country's main highways and has a history of maintenance problems.

Paiva was treated at the scene and did not suffer serious injuries. The Highway Patrol recorded the incident and said the uneven patch would be reported to the authorities responsible for road maintenance.
